MARQUETTE, Mich. - All of a sudden the Northern Michigan University hockey team is a scoring machine.  The â€Â˜Cats now haveback-to-back games of scoring more than one goal.  Tonight the â€Â˜Cats swept theFalcons of Bowling Green State University with the 4-2 win to keep their recordat home 9-0-1 for the 2004-05 campaign.  Overall NMU is now 12-7-5 and 10-5-3in the CCHA.  BGSU falls to 10-9-3 and 7-7-2 respectively. 


NMU scored two goals in the first two periods to have a 2-0lead after 40 minutes of play.  Mike Santorelli opened up the scoring with his11th goal of the season at 5:36 of the opening period.  John Millerand Andrew Contois assisted on the goal.  Jamie Milam then added a power-playgoal at 9:19 of the second period for his fifth goal of the season.  All of hisgoals have been on the power play.  Andrew Sarauer and Darin Olver assisted.


BGSU added two goals in the third period to tie the game. Michael Hodgson got the Falcons within one at 2-1 when he scored his third goalof the season at 00:57.  Ryan Minnabarriet added a power-play marker at 3:40 totie the game at two-all.


Pat Bateman scored the game-winner on the power play at14:08 of the final frame to give the â€Â˜Cats the lead for good at 3-1.  DirkSouthern and Nathan Oystrick assisted on the goal.  Southern turned around andadded an insurance goal on the power play for the final margin at 15:20 of theperiod.  Milam and Olver assisted.  Three of the four goals scored by the â€Â˜Catson Saturday night were on the power play.  NMU had nine chances on the powerplay for the night.  BGSU was 1-6 with the extra man.


Tuomas Tarkki turned away 29 shots in his position betweenthe pipes.  Jordan Sigalet had 26 saves on the night.  Shots were almost evenas BGSU had one more than the â€Â˜Cats at 31-30.


After spending the past two weekends at home the â€Â˜Cats hitthe road for Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the University of Michigan (Jan. 28-29).  The game on Friday night is the â€Â˜Cats lone regular season appearance onFox Sports Net Detroit.
