HILLSDALE, Mich. â€Â“ The Volcy brothers were the onlytwo â€Â˜Cats to score in the double-digits on Thursday night at Hillsdale College.  The Northern Michigan University menâ€Â™s basketball team is still searchingfor their first GLIAC win of the season after the 70-61 loss to the Chargers. Ã‚ NMU is now 5-8 overall on the season and 0-4 in the GLIAC.  Hillsdale improvesto 8-5 and 3-0 in the conference.


The â€Â˜Cats shot 50 percent from the floor for the first 20minutes of the game (10-20), but still trailed the Chargers 30-25.  HC shot 40percent from the floor for the first half (10-25).  The Chargers made one morethree-pointer and four more free throws in the half.  Marco Volcyâ€Â™s lay-up at10:31 of the half gave the â€Â˜Cats their final lead of the first half at 13-12. 


The second half saw the â€Â˜Cats chip away at the lead and tiedthe game at 30-all a minute into the second half when David Noel converted alay-up.  HC went on a 9-2 run over the next three plus minutes to have a handleon a seven-point lead at 39-32.  With 7:21 left in the game, Matt LePage made athree-point play to have the â€Â˜Cats within three at 51-48.  Once again theChargers held the â€Â˜Cats off as NMU could not get any closer than four pointsthe rest of the way.


Ricky Volcy had a game-high 20 points, added seven rebounds,two assists and four steals.  Brother, Marco, had 15 points, seven rebounds andthree assists. 


As a team the â€Â˜Cats were 23-51 from the floor (45.1percent), 4-18 in three-pointers (22.2 percent) and 11-18 from the charitystripe (61.1 percent).  NMU did win the battle on the boards with a 34-33edge.  Both teams had 13 offensive rebounds.


NMU will play at Wayne State on Saturday (Jan. 8) for theirnext game on their current road swing.
