EAST LANSING, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University menâ€Â™s basketball team now knows how the Big 10 and the rest of thecollege basketball world feel after playing Michigan State.  On Sunday theâ€Â˜Cats and Spartans played a little exhibition game at the Breslin Center.  At one point of the game the â€Â˜Cats held a 17-14 lead after Marco Volcy drained athree-pointer at 11:12 of the first half.  After that point of the game, theSpartans went on a 36-7 run to close out the first 20 minutes of play with a50-24 lead.  The Spartans ended up winning the game by a score of 98-56.


M. Volcy led the â€Â˜Cats with 11 points and four rebounds. Ricky Volcy and Jake Suardini both had 10 markers for the game.  R. Volcygrabbed a team-high seven rebounds.  Suardini was a perfect four-of-four fromthe floor.  Maurice Ager and Paul Davis both had 18 points to pace theSpartans.  Davis had a game-high 11 boards. 


For the game the â€Â˜Cats were 19-51 from the floor (37.3percent), 6-17 in three-pointers (35.3 percent) and 12-27 from the charitystripe (44.4 percent).  The Spartans were 31-75 from the floor for the game(41.3 percent), 10-26 in threeâ€Â™s (38.5 percent) and 26-28 from the free throwline (92.9 percent).


The â€Â˜Cats open it up for real this Friday (Nov. 19) at theNorthern Kentucky Tournament as they will face the Christian Brothers of Tenn.at 5:30 p.m.
