
COLUMBUS, Ohio â€Â“ The Columbus, Ohio curse must be on the Wildcats, because NMU lost another hockey game in the Ohio capital on Saturday night. This time the Buckeyes defeated the â€Â˜Cats in CCHA play2-0.
The last time NMU won a game at Ohio State was a 3-2decision on Nov. 7, 1981. NMUâ€Â™s first visit to Value City Arena was Nov. 16-17,2001 as the â€Â˜Cats were swept. NMU saw their seven-game unbeaten streak end andnow stand at 5-2-2 overall on the season and 3-1-1 in conference action.  Ohio State improves to 8-3-0 and 6-1-0.
OSU scored a goal in the second and one in the third periodfor the win. Bryce Anderson scored a power-play marker at 1:45 of the secondperiod to give the Buckeyes the 1-0 lead. The Buckeyes made it 2-0 when DomenicMaiani scored at 9:47 of the third period for the final margin of the game.
Tuomas Tarkki kept the â€Â˜Cats in the game with his 27 saveson the night. Dave Caruso for OSU had 24 saves on the night. The home teamhad the advantage on shots with a 29 to 24 edge. OSU scored the onlypower-play goal on the night in seven chances as the â€Â˜Cats were shutout withthe extra attacker in seven opportunities.
The two teams will square off again on Sunday afternoon(Nov. 14) at Value City Arena at 2:05 p.m.
