
MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s swim team competed against North Dakota on Saturday at the PEIFPool. The Sioux defeated the Aqua-â€Â˜Cats by a score of 124-100.ÂÂÂ
Michelle Ruiz picked up the first win for NMU by capturingthe one-meter diving event with 251.90 points. She also picked up a win in thethree-meter event by scoring 260.25 points. Sam Pechek won the 100-yardfreestyle with a time of 54.18 and was second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.43). Two events later, Sarah Dobratz won the 500 freestyle with a clocking of5:29.13 as teammate Lindsey Vermillion was second (5:34.77). Sarah Bartosh wonthe 100 breaststroke (1:12.02) and was second in the 100 butterfly (1:02.28).
The team will cap off the first semester by competing at theNotre Dame Invite from Dec. 1-4.
