Vincent Mayfield Lone 'Cat Named To GLIAC First Team


 

BAY CITY, Mich. â€Â“ Vincent Mayfield wasthe lone â€Â˜Cat named to the 2004 First Team GLIAC All-Conference Football Team. He was selected as one of the wide receivers on the squad.  Named to the secondteam were linebacker Chad Kurian, defensive back Dion Brown and punter RyanWettstein.

 

Five â€Â˜Cats were selected as honorable mention selections asCliff Carter (OL), Robert Boss (DL), Jim Couretas (LB), Nick Mauthe (WR) andDahn Borh (RB) were selected. 

 

Mayfield led the â€Â˜Cats with 72 receptions for 788 yards andsix receiving touchdowns.  The junior from Grand Rapids, Mich., was second inthe GLIAC in receptions/game with 7.20 rec/g and fourth in receiving yards/gamewith 78.8 yds/g.

 

Kurian led the â€Â˜Cats and was 11th in the GLIAC with99 total tackles (39 solo and 60 assisted).  He had 15 tackles-for-loss for -25yards, one sack, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.  Brown led theteam with three interceptions for the 2004 season, had 36 total tackles (25solo and 11 assisted) and five tackles-for-loss for -14 yards.  Wettstein wasthird in the GLIAC in punting with a 41.5 yards a punt average.  He punted theball 66 times for 2,738 yards and landed the ball inside the 20-yard line on 19occasions.
