'Cats Qualify For Fifth Year In A Row


 

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. â€Â“ For the fifth year in a row, the Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s cross country team has qualified for theNCAA II National Championships which will be held at Southern Indiana in twoweeks on Nov. 20.  The â€Â˜Cats finished in second place today at the NCAA II GreatLakes Regional with 98 team points as GLIAC foe Grand Valley State won theevent with 31 points.

 

Stephanie Howe the 2004 GLIAC individual champion was thirdoverall in the event with a time of 22:09.51.  Heather Cooksey of SouthernIndiana won the event with a time of 22:00.23 as Mandi Zemba of Grand Valley was second with a clocking of 22:05.28.  The next three runners for the â€Â˜Catswere Tami Kochen in 21st place, 23:10.00; Kelly Ahern in 22ndplace, 23:14.31; and Jane Stieber in 23rd place, 23:19.50.

 

Lindsay Williams in 29th place (23:25.22) wasfollowed by Maria Stuber in 35th (23:34.01) and Viktoria Koskenojain 58th (24:21.48).
