
MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The NorthernMichigan University Volleyball Wildcats honored the four seniors on the teamand did not let the Lake Superior State Lakers spoil their celebration as the â€Â˜Catsdowned the Lakers in three straight games (30-20, 30-24, 30-16). This match wasthe final home contest of the regular season for the â€Â˜Cats as they finish theregular season next weekend with games at Grand Valley State (Friday, Nov. 5)and Ferris State (Saturday, Nov. 6).

A key factor in tonightâ€Â™s match was the team hittingpercentage. The â€Â˜Cats hit at a .285 percent (58 kills, 19 errors on 137attempts) while the Lakers hit at just .049 percent (31 kills, 25 errors on 122attempts). The Wildcats are now 20-4 overall and 12-4 in the GLIAC, while theLakers fall to 8-19 overall and 4-11 in the conference. The â€Â˜Cats have wontheir last five matches, and have not lost a game in the last four matches.
Aimee Dewitte and Ashley Kiel each had 12 kills for theâ€Â˜Cats while Holly Greenamyre added 11. Â Kiel led the team in blocks with onesolo and seven assisted. Liz Kohn stood strong in the back row for the â€Â˜Cats,coming up with a match-high 20 digs. Brittany McGowan and Kelli McCune had 25and 22 assists respectively.ÂÂÂ
With tonightâ€Â™s win the â€Â˜Cats are one step closer to hostingin the post-season. It will all depend what the â€Â˜Cats do next weekend on theroad, if there will be any more matches at the Vandament Arena for the 2004season.ÂÂÂ
