HUDSONVILLE, Mich. â€Â“ Stephanie Howe ran away with theGLIAC title on Saturday at the 2004 GLIAC Cross Country Championships.  Howewith a time of 22:19.9 won the event with about 12 seconds to spare over KarlieSingleton of GVSU as she ran the course in a time of 22:31.7.  But, Howeâ€Â™s winwas not enough for the â€Â˜Cats as a team, NMU finished second behind GVSU.  Theâ€Â˜Cats scored 87 points as the Lakers won the team title with 31 points.


Tami Kochen was the next â€Â˜Cat runner to cross the finishline as she was 15th with a time of 23:02.1.  One other runnerplaced in the top 20 as Jane Stieber was 19th as she covered thecourse in a time of 23:17.1.  Other runners for the â€Â˜Cats included:  KellyAhern, 23:25.2 (25th); Viktoria Koskenoja, 23:26.2 (27th);Maria Stuber 23:26.2 (28th); and Brooke Rediger 23:35.5 (31st).


The team will run next at the NCAA II Great Lakes RegionalChampionships which will be held at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Nov. 6.
