
ST. CLOUD, Minn. â€Â“ The â€Â˜Cats opened up the 2004-05hockey season tonight in a place where they were only 2-13-1 entering thegame. NMU (0-1-0) lost to St. Cloud on Friday night by a 2-1 count. TheHuskies are now 2-0-1 on the young season.ÂÂÂ
SCSU scored a goal at 6:22 of the second period by AndrewGordon to take the early 1-0 lead. The Huskies added a power-play goal at11:05 by Matt Gems of the middle period to take the 2-0 lead. Andrew Contoisgot the â€Â˜Cats within one with a little over five minutes left in the game witha power-play goal (14:41).ÂÂÂ
Tuomas Tarkki was in net for NMU as he had 32 saves on thenight. SCSU was 1-9 on the power play while the â€Â˜Cats were 1-7. The home teamhad the advantage with the shots as the Huskies had 34 to 19 for the â€Â˜Cats.ÂÂÂ
The two teams will square off again on Saturday night at St. Cloud.
