Michelle Gillespie's Two Goals Did Not Stand Up


 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Michelle Gillespieâ€Â™s twogoals did not stand up as the Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s soccer teamtied Northwood in a mid-week matinee by the score of 2-2.   The â€Â˜Cats are now6-3-3 overall on the season and 1-2-1 in the GLIAC, it was their eighthovertime game of the season.  The Timberwolves are now 6-3-3 and 1-1-1 in theconference.

 

Gillespieâ€Â™s first goal of the game came at 21:37 and lessthan 11 minutes later she knocked home her second goal at 32:02.  She leads theteam with eight goals on the season.  Northwood got on the board with a goal byJaclyn Singer at 64:59 on an assist from Amy Snyder.  Kelley Jackson tied thegame at two-all with her goal at 88:49.

 

For the game the â€Â˜Cats had 10 more shots than the visitorsat 25-15.  But, corner kicks were a different story as the Wolves had 10 forthe game while NMU had three. 

 

Tabitha Magnan played all 110:00 in goal as she registeredsix saves on the day.  Caroline Bonynge in goal for the Wolves had 10 saves forthe game.

 

The â€Â˜Cats are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 16) against Ashland at the NMU Soccer Field at 1:00 p.m.
