DULUTH, Minn. ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan University womenÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚™s cross country team ran well as a team to capture the 2004Campus Quest which was held at the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚˜Cats had the top three finishers in the race and scored 17 team points asSt. Thomas University was second with 68 points and UM-Duluth was third with 70points.
Stephanie Howe covered the 5K course in 19:16.3 to win theevent over teammate Jane Stieber (19:16.8).ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Tami Kochen was just behind thefirst two ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚˜Cats with a clocking of 19:17.1.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Brooke Rediger was the next NMUrunner to cross the finish line as she was fifth (19:44.8) and about threeseconds behind her was Kelly Ahern (19:47.6) in the sixth spot.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The seventhand eighth spots belonged to the ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚˜Cats as Kara Farquhar (19:48.6) and LindseyWilliams (19:49.7) held those places respectively.
NMU also had runners who placed in the top 15, but were noteligible to score team points.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Maria Stuber was 10th (19:56.6),Victoria Koskenoja was 11th (20:01.3), Laura DeWitt was 13th(20:14.7) and Jessica Kalafut was 15th (20:32.7).
NMU will not run again until Sept. 25 when the team willcompete at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.
