'Cats Keep Rolling - Now At 26


 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The NorthernMichigan University Wildcats volleyball team knows how to win matches in threestraight games.  The â€Â˜Cats were at it again on Friday night as they ran theirregular season winning streak to 26 matches with a three-game sweep (30-18,30-25, 30-14) over the St. Cloud Huskies in match two of the Ramada InnInvitational.  NMU is still perfect for the season with a 3-0 slate while theHuskies are 4-2.  In the first match of the invitational UM-Crookston handledthe Michigan Tech Huskies in four games (30-20, 30-32, 30-26, 30-14).

 

Andrea Smith had the big arm for the â€Â˜Cats on the night with13 kills in 25 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .400.  HollyGreenamyre was the only other â€Â˜Cat to hit for double-digit kills with 10 on thenight.  As a team NMU had 51 kills in 106 total attempts for a .311 hittingpercentage.

 

Newcomer Brittany McGowan continues to put up some numbersas she shared the team honors in assists on Friday night with 19 as KelliMcCune also had the same number.  Jennie Little was the ace for the match asshe had six services aces on the night.  As a team the â€Â˜Cats had 14 serviceaces against the Huskies.  Little led the team with three block assists. 

 

The â€Â˜Cats face UM-Crookston in the second match on Saturdayat 5:00 p.m.  Michigan Tech and St. Cloud square off in the first match of theday at 2:00 p.m.
