'Cats Extend Winning Streak


 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“  The Northern Michigan Universityvolleyball team extended their regular-season match winning streak to 25matches with another three-game sweep (30-15, 30-28, 30-13) as the â€Â˜Cats tookcare of the Bemidji State Beavers, Sunday afternoon on the Vandament Arenafloor.  NMU is now 2-0 on the young season while the Beavers fall to 0-2.

 

Andrea Smith and Jennie Little led the â€Â˜Cats for the matchas they both had 11 kills on the day.  Little had a hitting percentage of .500as she had 20 total attempts.  Smith tallied 26 total attempts for a hittingpercentage of .308.  Kelli McCune and Brittany McGowan were almost even in theassists category.  McCune had a team-high 17 assists while McGowan had 14helpers for the match.

 

Ashley Kiel led the defensive effort with nine digs as AimeeDewitte had six digs.  Dewitte had one block solo and three blocks assists onthe stat sheet.

 

The â€Â˜Cats will host the Ramada Inn Invitational next weekend(Sept. 3-4).  NMU will play St. Cloud on Friday (Sept. 3) at 7:00 p.m. and then face Minnesota-Crookston on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
