Four 'Cats To Play In Europe

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Four membersof the Northern Michigan University volleyball team will be competing for ateam representing USA Athletes International, head coach Jim Moore hasannounced.  The four â€Â˜Cats making the trip are senior outside hitter AimeeDewitte, senior right side hitter Jennie Little, junior Andrea Smith andsophomore Ashley Kiel.  The players will leave Saturday, May 29 for matches in Germanyand Holland from May 31-June 8.

 

â€ÂœThis is a great opportunity for all the players,â€Â Mooresaid.  â€ÂœThey definitely have earned this chance and hopefully it will not onlybe an educational experience on the court but one off the court as well.â€ÂÃƒÃ‚‚ 

 

Joining the team on the trip will be NMU assistant coachStacy Metro.  Metro will go along to help with the team and do somerecruiting.  â€ÂœWhen the players were presented with this chance I knew this wassomething we could not pass up,â€Â Metro said.  â€ÂœI want to use this as a chanceto not only recruit, but see a part of the world that I have never seen.â€ÂÃƒÃ‚‚ Metro will assist the players in the gym and also experience many firsts with thethem.  â€ÂœIt should be an enjoyable time and a great learning experience aswell,â€Â Metro added.

 

Other players on the roster include Kara Heitmeyer (Findlay),Rebecca Hague (Wayne State), Megan Smolen (Wayne State), Jennifer Head(Cameron), Victoria Ibarra (Cameron) and Laura Zaskowski (Northwood).  The headcoach of the team is Doug Tuley from Mankato State.
