Women's Basketball Inks Four

 

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. - MikeGeary the head women's basketball coach at Northern Michigan University has announced that the following student-athleteshave signed a National Letter of Intent to attend NMU and play basketball forthe Wildcats next season.  Signing on the dotted line were Autumn Kuhtic from Grandville, Mich. and Grand Rapids Community College;Allison Carroll from Rhinelander, Wis. and Rhinelander High School; Maria Kasza from Rapid City, Mich. and Kalkaska High School;and Aimee Kovinchick from Mansfield, Ohio and St. Peters High School.

Kuhtic a 6-1, post player averaged 16.5 ppg and 9.2rpg for the 2003-04 season.  She was a third team junior college all-americanfor the past season.  Kuhtic was a two-time all-conference selection and theconference MVP.

Carroll a 6-0, post player averaged 17.0 ppg and 8.5rpg for the 2003-04 campaign.  She was a two-time honorable mention all-stateselection.  Carroll was a three-time first team all-conference selection aswell as the conference MVP as a junior.

Kasza a 5-8, wing player averaged 26 ppg and 7 rpg asa senior and 29.7 ppg as a junior.  She is a two-time first team all-stateselection.  In the classroom, Kasza is number one in her class with a 4.0 gradepoint average.

Kovinchick a 5-6, point guard averaged 10.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg,5.6 apg and 2.9 spg as a senior.  As a varsity starter, Kovinchick led her teamto a 73-6 record and three trips to the Ohio High School State BasketballTournament.  Kovinchick was a First Team All-District Six selection for the2003-04 season.
