UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s track and field team had their final tune-up onSaturday at Saginaw Valley before competing at the GLIAC Outdoor Track andField Championships which will be held at Hillsdale College from May 6-7.


Stephanie Boyer placed second in the 400-meter dash with atime of 58.90 for the â€Â˜Cats to start the meet.  The â€Â˜Cats showed their strengthin the distance events as NMU had two first place finishes and one second placeshowing. Jessica Kalafut captured the 1,500 run with a clocking of 5:00.49. Jennifer Lahr continued with her impressive spring as she won the 3,000 run andlowered her NCAA II provisional cut time to 10:10.67.  Jamie Grunert placedsecond in the 5,000 run event with a 19:06.00. 


The 4x100 relay of Kaylee Laakso, Leanna Ketola, EllenKnight and Monique McIntyre placed second in the event behind the team fromSVSU with a time of 51.33.  Laakso, Boyer, Kalafut and Stephanie Mishica placedthird in the 4x400 relay (4:16.05). 


Boyer in the long jump placed second with a leap of16-05.00.  Breanna Riedel (31-10.00) and Sarah Breen (27-05.00) were second andthird respectively in the triple jump.
