NMU Hockey Banquet


 

 

MARQUETTE, Mich.â€Â“ The annual Northern Michigan University Hockey Banquet was held onWednesday, April 14.  Craig Kowalski, Darin Olver, Nathan Oystrick and JustinKinnunen all walked away with multiple awards.

 

The eveningâ€Â™s first award, theJim Mussato Memorial Fitness Award, went to Alex Sawruk.  Kevin Gardner thenwon the Brad Werenka Coaches Academic Award.  Bobby Selden was next as he waspresented with the Ed Ward Most Improved Player Award.

 

The Clara Pantalone MemorialCommunity Service Award went to freshman Pat Bateman.  Kinnunen picked up hisfirst award of the evening by taking home the Dallas Drake Defensive Player ofthe Year Award.  John Miller and Oystrick shared the Steve Bozek Plus-MinusAward.

 

Oystrick then picked up hissecond award of the evening by being named the winner of the Tom Laidlaw BestDefenseman Award.  Kowalski then took home his first hardware of the evening bywinning the Dennis Sibilsky Memorial Senior Award.  Kinnunen then won hissecond award of the evening, the Steve Weeks Unsung Hero Award.

 

Olver won the next two awards onthe program by picking up the Don Waddell Best Freshman Award and the BillJoyce Best Forward Award.  The final presentation of the evening went toKowalski as he picked up the Gary Emmons Most Valuable Player Award.
