BIG RAPIDS, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s track and field team had a mid-week meet yesterday at Ferris State University.  The â€Â˜Cats competed against athletes from Ferris State,Northwood, Grand Valley, Aquinas and Michigan Tech at the one-day meet.   Ã‚ 


Stephanie Boyer captured the 400-meter dash in a time of59.20.  Jessica Kalafut followed Boyerâ€Â™s win by taking second in the 800 runwith a clocking of 2:20.00.  A couple of events later, Jennifer Lahr won the1,500 run in a new meet record time of 4:37.40.   The old record was set bySarah Gritter of Calvin College in 1999 with a time of 4:39.36.


Hanna Delarey finished third in the 5,000 run (20:42.00). The 4x100 relay of Breanna Riedel, Kaylee Laasko, Monique McIntyre and Leanna Ketolafinished fourth with a time of 51.50.  Boyer, Kalafut, Stephanie Mishica andLahr placed second in the event (4:07.80) as the team from Ferris won the race(4:04.10).  Riedel also placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.95m. Martha Frontti threw the discus 33.20m which was good for third place in theevent.


The â€Â˜Cats have two more meets left in the season as they areat the SVSU Invitational on Saturday, April 17, before the GLIAC OutdoorChampionships on May 6-7 which will be held at Hillsdale College.
