WHEATON, Ill. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s tack team opened the 2004 outdoor part of their schedule atthe Wheaton Invitational on Saturday (March 27).  NMU finished in fourth placewith 78 points out of the 20 teams who were competing at the event.  Marquette Universitywon the meet with 165 points.


Stephanie Boyer scored in four events as she was seventh inthe 200-meter dash (26.35), second in the 400 dash (59.79), second in the longjump (5.13m) and was a member of the fifth place 4x400 relay.  Other members ofthe relay were Stephanie Mishica, Jennifer Lahr and Jessica Kalafut as theâ€Â˜Cats ran a 4:09.0.


Kalafut was sixth in 800 with a time of 2:23.84.  Lahrplaced second in the 1,500 in a clocking of 4:37.64.  Johanna Delorey ran a43:51.1 in the 10,000 which was good for second place in the event.  Mishicaplaced seventh in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:13.57.  Kara Farquhar wasthird in the 3,000 steeplechase as she ran the course in 12:40.79. 


Breanna Riedel, Kaylee Laakso, Leanna Ketola and EllenKnight raced to a sixth place showing in the 4x100 relay with a time of 53.19. 


The field events saw the â€Â˜Cats with a couple of early seasonresults as Riedel was fourth in the triple jump (9.87).  Tiffany Grubaugh movedfrom the hardwood to the track by winning the discus with a throw of 38.82, wasfourth in the shot put (12.12) and was seventh in the javelin (27.03).


The â€Â˜Cats are in action again on Saturday (April 3) whenthey will compete at the Notre Dame Invitational. Ã‚
