MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s swimming and diving team recently competed at the NCAA IISwimming and Diving National Championships which were held at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.  As a team the Aqua-â€Â˜Cats finished in 19thplace with 33 points as Truman State won the event with 641 points.


Kathie Cole led the team with two top seven finishes in thediving events.  Both places earned her NCAA II All-America status.  She placedseventh in the three-meter diving event with 374.90 points.  Michelle Ruizplaced 16th in the event with 270.05 points.


Later in the meet, Cole placed fifth on the one-meter boardwith 354.50 points.  Ruiz was 15th on the one-meter with 266.85points. 


Larisa Graham competed in three swimming events at thechampionships.  She was 13th in the 400-yard I.M. (4:34.82), 24thin the 200 breaststroke (2:29.35) and 20th in the 200 I.M.(2:11.40).
