MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University womenÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚™s swimming and diving team recently competed at the NCAA IISwimming and Diving National Championships which were held at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ As a team the Aqua-ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚˜Cats finished in 19thplace with 33 points as Truman State won the event with 641 points.
Kathie Cole led the team with two top seven finishes in thediving events.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Both places earned her NCAA II All-America status.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She placedseventh in the three-meter diving event with 374.90 points.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Michelle Ruizplaced 16th in the event with 270.05 points.
Later in the meet, Cole placed fifth on the one-meter boardwith 354.50 points.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Ruiz was 15th on the one-meter with 266.85points.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚
Larisa Graham competed in three swimming events at thechampionships.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She was 13th in the 400-yard I.M. (4:34.82), 24thin the 200 breaststroke (2:29.35) and 20th in the 200 I.M.(2:11.40).
