'Cats Have The Shots Against The Falcons, But Not The Score

 

BOWLING GREEN, Ohioâ€Â“ The Bowling Green State University hockey team seems to have NMUâ€Â™s numberat the BGSU Ice Arena.  The â€Â˜Cats had lost their past three games in a row tothe Falcons in the building entering the game on Friday night; you can makethat the last four.  BGSU defeated the â€Â˜Cats on Friday night at the BGSU IceArena by a score of 2-1.  NMUâ€Â™s home ice chances for the playoffs are fading asthe â€Â˜Cats are now 16-14-3 overall and 11-13-1 in the CCHA.  The Falcons improveto 10-16-8 and 8-13-5.

 

BGSU scored first to grab the early1-0 lead on a goal at 5:04 of the opening period by Dâ€Â™Arcy McConvey.  MattHunter would score his fifth of the season at 7:05 of the second period to tiethe game at one-all.  Alan Swanson assisted on the goal.  James Unger scoredthe game-winner for the Falcons at 00:49 of the third period on the power play.

 

The â€Â˜Cats had a season-high 43shots for the game, but could only manage one score.  On the power play NMU wasshutout in four attempts.  BGSU had one power-play goal in six chances.  CraigKowalski and Jordan Sigalet were tied for the Perani Cup Individual Standingslead, for the stars of the game, entering the game.  Sigalet was named thefirst star on Friday night as he had 42 saves on the night.  Kowalski was namedthe second star with his 25 saves for the game. Ã‚ ÃƒÃ‚‚ 

 

The two teams will play again onSaturday night (Feb. 28) at 7:35 p.m. at the BGSU Ice Arena.  The game will bethe Fox Sports Net-CCHA Game of the Week.
