ST. Cloud, Minn.â€Â“ Over the weekend the NMU menâ€Â™s cross country ski team competed at theNCAA Qualifier #4 which was held at the Greystone Trails in St. Cloud, Minn. The first day of competition was on Saturday, Feb. 14 as the â€Â˜Cats won themenâ€Â™s 10K freestyle event.  Sunday, Feb. 15 the â€Â˜Cats made it two in a row bytaking the classic race. 

NMU scored 60 points in thefreestyle race as UW-Green Bay was second with 43 points.  NMU again edged UW-Green Bay in the classic race by a score of 60-44.

The â€Â˜Cats took the top three placesin the freestyle race as Bryan Cook was the winner with a time of 25:09.3. Hjalmar Westie was second (25:16.7) as Joey Graci made it a sweep with a timeof 25:37.7.  NMU also took the  fifth, sixth and seventh spots.  Bob Baldwinwas fifth (26:04.2) as he was followed by August Kaeding (26:12.0) and AdriaanOstrander (26:15.7).  Michael New placed 12th for the â€Â˜Cats 26:44.3.

The NMU men took the top fourplaces in the classic race on Sunday.  Cook won his second event of the weekendby covering the course in a time of 53:36.1.  Graci was second (53:38.2),Ostrander was third (53:42.5) and Kaeding fourth (53:42.8) in the event.  Newin sixth place (55:04.4) and Baldwin in ninth (56:24.1) rounded out the â€Â˜Catsin the event.

The team will compete at the NCAAGreat Lakes Regional which will be held at Michigan Tech the weekend of Feb.28-29.
