SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The re-launch of the womenâ€Â™s track team at Northern Michigan Universitytook off on Friday night at Lake Superior State Universityin their first meet of the season.  Theteam will run a limited indoor schedule before turning their attention to theoutdoor portion of the schedule.


Jennie Lahr won the 1600-meter runwith a time of 5:00.11.  Tracy Wills wasthird for the â€Â˜Cats in the event with a clocking of 5:31.00.  Amanda Holtz then captured the 55 hurdles ina time of 9.49. 


NMU took the top four places in the55 dash.  Stephanie Boyer was first(7.50), Breanna Riedel was next (7.75), Monique McIntyre was third (7.80) andfourth was Leanna Ketola (8.00).


Boyer picked up her secondindividual win of the night with a clocking of 27.54 in the 200 as teammateRiedel was second (28.69).  JessicaKalafut won the 800 run with a time of 2:23.92. NMU also went one and two in the 3000 as Jamie Grunert was first(10:58.85) and Kara Farquhar was next (11:01.59).


The 4 x 400 relay of Lahr,Stephanie Mishica, Boyer and Wills won the event with a time of 4:12.42.


NMU will run again next week at theSVSU Team Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 7.
