'Cats Have Hot First Half


 

FINDLAY, Ohioâ€Â“ Behind a sizzling 64.3 percent shooting from the floor in the first halfthe â€Â˜Cats built an 18 point lead at half time and cruised to a 77-51 win overThe University of Findlay Oilers on Monday night.  The â€Â˜Cats were 18-28 from the floor in thefirst 20 minutes of play and ended the game shooting 59.3 percent from thefloor (32-54).  With the win the â€Â˜Catswent 2-1 on their three-game swing to improve their overall record to 13-2 and5-2 in the GLIAC.  Findlayis now 11-7 and 3-5 in the conference.

Andrea Brooke made the first basketof the game before the Oilers connected on a three-pointer to take their lonelead of the game at 3-2 less than a minute into the game.  The â€Â˜Cats would answer as Tiffany Grubaugh hit a jumper, before Brooke connected on a lay-upand Tera Opperman hit athree-pointer to take the lead for good at 9-3.

The â€Â˜Cats had their biggest lead ofthe game at 30 points with the score 63-33 after Michelle Moardmade a lay-up with 11:48 left in thegame. 

For the second time this season Grubaugh scored 30 or more points as she had 30 markers onMonday.  She also dished out six assistsfor the game.  Brooke ended the game with19 points and eight rebounds.  EmilySamuelson contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and twosteals. 

The â€Â˜Cats were 7-15 from thethree-point line for the game (46.7 percent) and 6-11 from the free throw line(54.5 percent).  With 36 rebounds for thegame the â€Â˜Cats had a five rebound advantage over the Oilers(31 rebounds).

The â€Â˜Cats will return to the Berry Events Centeron Thursday (Jan. 22) to take on Ashland University at 5:30 p.m.
