'Cats Take Three Of The Top Four Spots In The College Men Race


 

MT. ITASCA, Minn.â€Â“ The Northern Michigan menâ€Â™s cross country ski teamcompeted at the 2004 CXC Norm Super Tour over the weekend at Mt. Itasca, Minn.  Saturday the team raced in the mass startclassical race as Sundayâ€Â™s race was cancelled because of the weather.

Former NMU skiers Matt Weier andCory Wubbels were sixth and seventh in the Norman Men category of theevent.  Weier covered the course in atime of 41:49.7 while Wubbels turned in a time of 42:02.2.

Hjalmar Westie was second (42:10.3)in the College Men category of the race, Bryan Cook was next (42:17.4) in thirdplace and he was followed by Adriaan Ostrander (43:04.5) who was fourth. Ã‚  Joey Graci was sixth in the same category(43:35.2) and Mike New was ninth (44:42.8). 

Bob Baldwin led a one-two finishfor the â€Â˜Cats in the OJ Men category.  Baldwinhad a time of 44:00.2 for the winning time as teammate August Kaeding wassecond (44:01.4).  Cameron Ross wasfourth (46:00.6) and Ben Cline was sixth (46:49.8).

The team will be back in actionthis weekend (Jan. 24-25) at the Cable, Wis. CXC Norm Super Tour event.
