MT. ITASCA, Minn.â€Â“ The Northern Michigan womenâ€Â™s cross country skiteam competed at the 2004 CXC Norm Super Tour over the weekend at Mt. Itasca, Minn.  Saturday the team raced in the mass startclassical race as Sundayâ€Â™s race was cancelled because of the weather.

Lindsey Weier won the whole race asshe completed the course in a time of 31:26.8. Weier competed in the OJ Female category.  Lindsay Williams placed second in the OJFemale category, about 49 seconds behind Weier, with a clocking of32:16.5.  Finishing in fourth place inthe same category was Jennifer Wygant with a time of 33:53.2. 

Hilary Patzer placed second in theNoram Female category with a time of 32:33.7. Finishing about 26 seconds behind Patzer was teammate Melissa Oram asshe covered the course in a time of 32:59.5 and placed third.  Katherine Huemmer placed seventh in thecategory (35:00.8).

Caitlin Compton placed third in theCollege Female category with a time of 33:01.8. Aniya Deitz was sixth in the category as teammate Stephanie Howe wasseventh as they were clocked at 33:55.5 and 34:08.2 respectively.  NMU won the college category of therace. 

Morgan Smyth and Victoria Koskenojawere the first two skiers in the J1 Female category with times of 32:37.0 and32:42.2 respectively.  Maggie Sorensonwon the 20-24 Female category with a time of 38:59.1.

The team will be back in actionthis weekend (Jan. 24-25) at the Cable, Wis. CXC Norm Super Tour event.
