MARQUETTE, Mich.â€Ã‚“ The NMU menâ€Ã‚™s basketball team struggled a bit on Saturday afternoon, butdefeated the visiting Northland College Lumberjacks at the Berry Events Centerby a count of 72-58.  With the win theâ€Ã‚˜Cats are now 3-1 on the season. Northland falls to 0-4.

NMU shot 39.3 percent for the gamefrom the floor (24-61) and were only 4-23 in three-pointers on the day for 17.4percent.  From the charity stripe theâ€Ã‚˜Cats were 20-32 for 62.5 percent. 

Ricky Volcy came off the bench to leadthe â€Ã‚˜Cats again on Saturday with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists.  David Noel added 12 markers.  Milan Azanjac had 11 points while Billy Hilladded 10.  Steve Watts just missed adouble-double as he had nine point and nine rebounds.  For the day the â€Ã‚˜Cats won the reboundingbattle by a 50-36 advantage.

NMU is back in action on Mondaynight (Dec. 1) against Finlandia at 7:30 the Berry Events Center.
