'Cats Only Manage 20 Shots At Notre Dame


 

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Northern Michigan Universityhockey team played Notre Dame on Friday night at the Joyce Center and the â€Ã‚˜Cats could only get20 shots off on the night.  The Irishjumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on to win the game 5-1. The â€Ã‚˜Cats drop below.500 as they are now 5-6-0overall on the season and 4-5-0in the CCHA.  Notre Dame improves to 7-3-2 and 6-3-2 in the conference.

Notre Dame scored one goal in the first period, two in thesecond and two in the third to keep the lead through the entire game.  Nathan Oystrick scored a power-play goal at 17:32 of the third period to get the â€Ã‚˜Cats onthe board.  For Oystrick it was his thirdgoal of the season as Geoff Waugh and Dirk Southern assisted.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats had four power-play opportunities on the nightwhile the Irish cashed in one power-play goal in seven chances. 

Craig Kowalski started in goal for the â€Ã‚˜Cats and gave upfour of the five goals on the night.  Hehad 25 saves in a little over 46 minutes of work for the game.  Tuomas Tarkki played a little over 13 minuteson Friday night as he gave up one goal and had four saves.  David Brown went the distance for Notre Dameand had 19 saves on the night. 

The two teams will play at Notre Dame again tomorrow night(November 29) at 7:05 p.m.
