'Cats Pick Up More Awards

 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.â€Ã‚“ The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced theirAll-Region Teams and Region Coaches of the Year. 

Jim Moore was named the Tachikara/AVCA Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year afterleading the NMU Wildcats to a 26-1 overall record for the 2003 season.  He led the â€Ã‚˜Cats to an undefeated regularseason for the first time in school history with a 23-0 record as the squad wonthe GLIAC North Division, with an 18-0 conference slate, and GLIAC Tournamenttitles.

He was awarded with the GLIAC Coachof the Year honor for the 2003 season for the third time in his collegiatecareer.  This is the fourth time that hehas won the region coach of the year award. 

Two NMU volleyball players werenamed to the 2003 AVCA All-Great Lakes Region Team.  Aimee Dewitte and Jennie Littlewere named to the squad.  Freshman AshleyKiel was named the All-Great Lakes Freshman of the Year.

Little led the 2003 â€Ã‚˜Cats with 348kills (3.62 k/game) and had a hitting percentage of .318.  She also had 35 service aces and 133digs.  Dewitte had 214 kills (2.82k/game) for the 2003 campaign.  She had13 block solos and 47 blocks assists for 60 total blocks for the season.

Kielled the â€Ã‚˜Cats in 2003 with 47 service aces, 17 block solos and 82 blockassists.  She was named as an honorablemention selection to the team.
