RALEIGH, N.C.â€Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan womenâ€Ã‚™s cross country teamran at the NCAA II National Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The â€Ã‚˜Cats finished in seventh place with 268points, as Adams State won the event with 38 points,  as it was their fourth year in a row that thesquad finished in the top eight. Â NMUwas only four points out of fifth place as both Harding and South DakotaState had264 points.
â€Ã‚œI am very happy with the resultsand the way we ran,â€Ã‚ Sten Fjeldheim, the NMU cross country coach, said. â€Ã‚œI am happy to be back in the top 10.â€Ã‚ÂÂ
Jennifer Lahr led the way for theâ€Ã‚˜Cats in 28th overall place with a time of 22:21.7. In the team event, Lahr placed 16thoverall. Her 28th overallplace earned her NCAA II All-American honors.
Other runners for the â€Ã‚˜Catsincluded: Stephanie Howe, 23:19.9; JaneStieber, 23:26.9; Tracy Wills, 23:34.0; and Maria Stuber, 23:36.2.
