MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Ã‚“ Grand Valley State Universityaccomplished their goal of NCAA II Regional Volleyball Champs, after defeating Northern Kentucky University3-0 on Saturday night at the Vandament Arena. GVSU won the first game 30-20.  Theykept the momentum going as they won the second and third games, 30-27 and30-25. 

Northern Kentucky finished theirseason with a 26-12 record and the Lakers will move on the NCAA II Elite Eight witha record of 29-7.

Sabrina Bird led the Lakers to victory with a total of 14kills.  Megan Helsen, Tracy Kirk andLauren Hanson all had 10 kills each in the win on Saturday night.

As a team GVSU had a total of 57 kills out of 114 attempts,for an outstanding hitting percentage of .404. Defensively Molly Young chippedin 14 digs.  Nicole Bayle passed for 47assists. 

The Norse were led at the net by Kristin Koralweski with 14kills.  NKU hit for 37 of 107 attemptsgiving them an attack percentage of .150. Nicole Salisbury put up good efforts defensively with 11 digs.  Sara Taylor contributed to NKUâ€Ã‚™s attempt at awin with 30 assists.
