'Cats Place Second At GLIAC Championships


 

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. â€Ã‚“The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Ã‚™s cross country team placed second atthe 2003 GLIAC Cross Country Championships that were held at Ferris State onSaturday.  The â€Ã‚˜Cats tallied 96 teampoints GLIAC Champions, the Grand Valley State Universityâ€Ã‚™s27 points.  Wayne State was third with 99 points.

Jennie Lahr led the way for the â€Ã‚˜Cats with a fourth placefinish in the event as she ran the course in a time of 22:25.1.  Teammate Tami Kochen was next for the â€Ã‚˜Catsin sixth place with a time of 22:29.5.

Stephanie Howe placed 24th (22:56.6) as JaneStieber was 28th in the event with a clocking of 22:59.2. Ã‚  Maria Stuber was the final scorer for theâ€Ã‚˜Cats as she was 34th (23:10.2).

Lahr and Kochen were both named to the 2003 First TeamAll-GLIAC Team.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats have at least one more event on the schedule asthey will compete at the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 8.
