MARQUETTE, Mich.â€Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Ã‚™s cross countryteam ran a meet that was close to home. The course that they ran on Friday afternoon was set up on campus atNMU.  The â€Ã‚˜Cats easily won the WildcatOpen with 26 points as Michigan Tech was second with 47 points.

NMU had five of the top 10 runners on Friday.  Jennie Lahr led the way by winning the eventwith a time of 10:25.19.  Tami Kochen wasthird as she ran the NMU course in 10:55.48. Stephanie Howe in sixth place (11:00.26), Jane Stieber in seventh(11:01.94) and Maria Stuber in ninth (11:07.52) rounded out the top 10 placersfor the â€Ã‚˜Cats.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats will race again on October 25 at the GLIAC CrossCountry Championship at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.
