ERIE, Pa.â€Ã‚“ The NMU volleyball team went two for Erieas they defeated Gannon Universityin five games on Saturday afternoon.  Theâ€Ã‚˜Cats won the first game by a count of 30-27 before the Golden Knights took thesecond game of the match 26-30 to even the score.  NMU won the third game 30-25 before Gannoncame back to win the fourth game 28-30 to send the match to a fifth anddeciding game.  NMU won the final game ofthe match 15-12 to stay perfect on the season. NMU with the win is now 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the GLIAC.  Gannon is now 15-2 overall and 5-2 in theconference.


For the second match in a row, Andrea Smith had the hot armas she led the â€Ã‚˜Cats with 19 kills on the day. Jennie Little added 17 kills to go along with her 10 digs and two soloblocks.  Ashley Kiel had 23 digs, sevensolo blocks and five assists in the win. The duo of Anne (Kinsella) Hasenstab and Kelli McCune passed for a totalof 53 assists between them.  Hasenstabled the way with 28 assists as McCune added 25. On the defensive front, Hasenstab added 16 digs while McCune had15.  Liz Kohn had 21 digs for the â€Ã‚˜Catson the afternoon.


NMU returns home next weekend as they face Hillsdale onOctober 11 and Wayne Stateon October 12.
