'Cats Break Two School Records In Win

 

MONTGOMERY, W. Va. â€Ã‚“ The NMU womenâ€Ã‚™s soccer team ran their record to 6-2-1 with a 12-0 win on Sunday overWest Virginia Tech.  The 12 goals is anew school record as is the 11 assists dished out during the game.  The old record was eight goals against Bemidji State in 2001.  Against UM-Crookston during the 2000 seasonthe â€Ã‚˜Cats had six assists in that game for the old record.

Three â€Ã‚˜Cats had two goals each as Carolyn Kunas, KerriVander Velden and Hanna Marshall found the back of the net twice.  Kelli Riesen, Tara Baker, LindsayMockenhaupt, Lindsey Ogaard, Rachel Vilders and Betsy Hubert all had a singlegoal.

Kunas currently has a team-high eight goals on theseason.  Vilders and Michelle Brown bothhave three assists to share the team-high honors.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats are off this week and will not be back in actionuntil October 4 when they will play at UW-River Falls.
