MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team will play 2003 Final Four participantMarquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. on Monday night November 24 at the Bradley Center.  Tip off is set for7:00 p.m. (central).  TheGolden Eagles are coming off a 27-6 campaign for the 2002-03 season and a tripto the NCAA Final Four, which was their first trip since 1977 when they won thenational championship.

"The coaches, staff and players are very excited aboutplaying at Marquette University," Dean Ellis, the head men's basketball coach at NMU,said.  "To play such a team is agreat honor and privilege.  It will be agood challenge for the team."

On the Marquette web site, Marquette's head coach Tom Crean said,"The Northern Michigan game comes because of my respect for its programand the fact that it is a very important place to Tom Izzo."  He went on to say, "With our Division IIand III backgrounds, I thought that this was a good step in finalizing theschedule."

The 'Cats will also play, NCAA I opponents the Universityof Wisconsin-Green Bay in an exhibition game on November 13 in Green Bay andOakland University in Rochester, Mich. on December 14. 

NMU will open the regular season at the U.S. Bank Tip Off Classic in Fargo, N.D.  onNovember 21-22.  The 'Cats will play North Dakota State and Minnesota-Moorhead at the Tip OffClassic.  Other non-conference games onthe slate are against Northland College on November 29 in Marquette, Finlandia in Marquette on December 1, Minnesota-Duluth inMarquette on December 7,  the 'Catstravel to St. Norbert on December 18 and host St. Cloud in Marquette on January3.

The 'Cats will open their GLIAC schedule with a gameagainst Michigan Tech in Houghton on December 4.
