'Cats Perfect On The Season

 

MARQUETTE, Mich.â€Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan University volleyball team is aperfect 6-0 on the season after defeating Michigan Tech on Tuesday night inHoughton in four games (30-24, 35-33, 24-30, 30-26).  Over the weekend the â€Ã‚˜Cats went 4-0 at theNorthern Kentucky Tournament by defeating Alderson-Broaddus 3-0 (30-20, 30-20,30-15), Lewis 3-1 (27-30, 30-20, 30-28, 30-19), Indianapolis 3-1 (28-30, 31-29,30-26, 30-21) and West Virginia State 3-0 (30-15, 30-14, 30-16).

Jennie Little was named the GLIAC NorthDivision Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend at Northern Kentucky.  She had 44 killsin the four matches and a .313 hitting percentage.  Little added 42 digs, 14 service aces, 10blocks and nine assists.  She had 18 killsagainst Indianapolis and eightservice aces against West Virginia State.

At Tech last night in the â€Ã‚˜Cats first GLIAC match of theseason, Little again led the â€Ã‚˜Cats with 21 kills in 43attempts for a hitting percentage of .372. Beth Honaker added 18 kills in the win. Kelli McCune had 53 assists for match-high honors.  Anne Hasenstab on the defensive end had 17digs on the night.

At Northern Kentucky, HollyGreenamyre had a good weekend with 44 kills and a hitting percentage of.393.  Beth Honaker also had over 40kills with 43 kills for the four matches. Honaker served 15 service aces while freshman Ashley Kiel had 10 serviceaces.  Andrea Smith had a total of 22blocks for the two-day event at NKU with five block solos and 17 block assists.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats are home this weekend as they take on Northwood onSaturday (Sept. 20) at 4:00 p.m. and Saginaw Valley on Sunday (Sept. 21) at 1:00 p.m.
