'Cats Drop First Real Home Game Of The Season

 

MARQUETTE, Mich.â€Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Ã‚™s soccer team hadtheir first real home game of the season on Saturday at the NMU Soccer Field inthe first game of the Holiday/Ramada Inn Second Annual Soccer Tournament.   It wasnot a very good homecoming for the â€Ã‚˜Cats as they dropped a 2-1 decision to St.Cloud.  NMU is now 3-2-1 on the season while St. Cloud is 2-2-1.  Saginaw Valley Stateof the GLIAC defeated Bemidji Statein the second game on Saturday, 2-0.

The Huskies jumped out to a quick 2-0 on goals by AnneLitecky at the 30:47 and 41:25 marks of the game.  Carolyn Kunas finally got the â€Ã‚˜Cats on theboard with a goal at 88:43 of the game. It was her third goal of the season as she leads the â€Ã‚˜Cats in thatdepartment.

NMU will play Bemidji State on Sunday (Sept. 14) in thesecond game of the day at 1:00 p.m.  Saginaw Valley will kick off against St. Cloud at 11:00 a.m.
