MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Ã‚“ Dirk Southern and Juha Alen weretaken in the NHL Entry Draft that was held over the weekend in Nashville,Tenn.  NMIU recruit Zach Tarkir was alsotaken in the draft.

Alen was the first â€Ã‚˜Cat taken as he went in the third roundwith the 90^th pick to Anaheim. Tarkir was next to go to New Jersey with the 167^th pick inthe fifth round.  Southern was alsopicked up by Anaheim in the seventhround with the 218^th pick.

Jamie Milam has been invited to the U.S. National Junior EvaluationCamp from August 3-10 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.  The camp will include exhibition contestsbetween the two U.S. squads (Teams Blue and White) and Under-20 select teamsfrom Finland and Sweden. 

Participating players in the camp are candidates for the2004 U.S. National Junior Team, which will compete in the 2004 InternationalIce Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.  The tournament will take place Dec. 25, 2003â€Ã‚“ Jan. 4, 2004 in Helsinki and Hameenlinna, Finland.
