MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Ã‚“ Walt Kyle, the head hockeycoach at Northern Michigan University, has announced his captain and alternate captains forthe 2003-04 season. Senior goaltender, Craig Kowalski has been named the captain of the teamfor the upcoming season by Kyle.  NathanOystrick, Alan Swanson and Geoff Waugh have been named the alternate captainsfor the season.

Kowalski is entering hissenior campaign in Marquette with a 51-35-8 slate for the 'Cats between the pipes.  The goaltender from Clinton Township, Mich., is currently tied for the top spot with Dan Ragusettwith eight career shutouts in his NMU career. Kowalski has a career 2.61 GAA and a career .908 save percentage.  Last season, Kowalski was 20-16-2 with a 2.82GAA and a .902 save percentage.

Oystrick, a sophomore, fromRegina, Saskatchewan was a seventh round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers inthe 2002 NHL Entry Draft.  He appeared in34 games last season for the 'Cats and registered two goals, 10 assists for 12points.  Oystrick was named as anhonorable mention selection to the 2002-03 Bauer/CCHA All-Rookie Team.

Swanson, a Marquette native, is entering his junior season at NMU.  For his career he has appeared in 76 gameswith 20 goals, 10 assists for 30 points.

Waugh, a sophomore, from Winnipeg, Manitoba was a third round pick of the Dallas Stars in the2002 NHL Entry Draft.  He appeared in 39games for the 'Cats during the 2002-03 season as he had seven assists for sevenpoints.
