'Cats Handle Rangers

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Ã‚“The Jim Moore Era II started out on a good footing on Wednesday night as theNorthern Michigan University Wildcats handled the University ofWisconsin-Parkside volleyball team in three straight (30-16, 30-13,30-23).  For Moore,it was a triumph return, as he is returning as the head coach of the squadafter an almost 10 year absence from Marquette.  The â€Ã‚˜Cats go to 1-0 on the young season asthe Pioneers are now 3-2.

Jennie Little and Beth Honaker both had nine kills to leadthe â€Ã‚˜Cats attack.  Honaker was playing inher first match in about two years. Freshman Ashley Kiel playing in her first collegiate match had eight killsin 29 attempts, for team-high honors. Kelli McCune dished out a match-high 33 assists.  Anne (Kinsella) Hasenstab on the defensiveend had 12 digs to lead the â€Ã‚˜Cats.

Jeni Bradley led the Rangers with 12 kills as Natalie Wildeshad 20 assists.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats will play the 1993 NCAA II National Championshipteam on Saturday night, September 6 at 7:00 p.m.in the Vandament Arena.  A publicreception for the team will be held at 6:00 p.m.in the Wildcat Room.
