MIDDLEBURY, Vt. â€Ã‚“ The NMU alpine ski team placed 10^thin the womenâ€Ã‚™s giant slalom race on Saturday at the Middlebury College WinterCarnival.  NMU had 37 points as theUniversity of Vermont won the event with 120 points. Ã‚ ÃƒÃ‚‚  Overall at the winter carnival the Wildcats finished in 13^thplace with 90 points.  Vermont won theteam title with 859.5 points.  The eventincluded menâ€Ã‚™s slalom, menâ€Ã‚™s giant slalom and cross country skiing.

Danielle Denbleyker led the â€Ã‚˜Cats on Saturday in the giant slalomwith a 31^st place showing. Her total time was 2:15.58.  MeriKoski was next in 50^th place (2:21.31).  The â€Ã‚˜Cats next two places in the event went to Beth Somalski asshe was 57^th (2:25.62) and Kate Hosking who was 58^th(2:26.48). 

This was the final event that the alpine skiers will competein for the season.  Selected individualswill compete at the Junior Olympics and at the U.S. Skiing NationalChampionships.
