
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. â€Ã‚“ The NMU alpine ski team placed 10thin the womenâ€Ã‚™s giant slalom race on Saturday at the Middlebury College WinterCarnival. NMU had 37 points as theUniversity of Vermont won the event with 120 points. Â Ã‚ Overall at the winter carnival the Wildcats finished in 13thplace with 90 points. Vermont won theteam title with 859.5 points. The eventincluded menâ€Ã‚™s slalom, menâ€Ã‚™s giant slalom and cross country skiing.
Danielle Denbleyker led the â€Ã‚˜Cats on Saturday in the giant slalomwith a 31st place showing. Her total time was 2:15.58. MeriKoski was next in 50th place (2:21.31). The â€Ã‚˜Cats next two places in the event went to Beth Somalski asshe was 57th (2:25.62) and Kate Hosking who was 58th(2:26.48).ÂÂÂÂ
This was the final event that the alpine skiers will competein for the season. Selected individualswill compete at the Junior Olympics and at the U.S. Skiing NationalChampionships.
