
ALLENDALE, Mich. - The third day of the 2003 GLIACSwimming and Diving Championships is in the books. The Aqua-â€Ã‚˜Cats are in second place with 280.5 points asIndianapolis has moved ahead of NMU with 324.5 points.
NMU started the third day with a third place showing in the200-yard medley relay. Shelly Ruspakka,Larisa Graham, Katie Worley and Dena Quick swam a 1:51.37.
Sam Pechek picked up the Aqua-â€Ã‚˜Cats first victory on thenight in the next event as she won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.42which was good enough for a NCAA II A cut. Behind Pechek in third place was teammate Kristy Vermillion with a timeof 1:55.56. Graham was sixth in the 100breaststroke as she swam a 1:11.60.ÂÂÂÂ
The final individual event of the session was the 100backstroke as Ruspakka tied for second in the event with a time of1:01.24. NMU placed third in the finalevent of the evening the 800 freestyle relay. Members of the relay for the Aqua-â€Ã‚˜Cats were K. Vermillion, L.Vermillion, Graham and Pechek as the tandem swam a 7:55.21.
The final day of competition will be on Saturday (Feb. 22).
