Men's Cross Country Ski Team Dominates NMU Invitational

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Ã‚“ The menâ€Ã‚™s cross country ski teamat Northern Michigan University competed at the NMU Invitational over theweekend (Feb. 1-2) at the Al Quaal Trails in Ishpeming. Ã‚ 

On Saturday the men skated in the 10K Freestyle race andgarnered 83 points to win the event. The Huskies of Michigan Tech placed second in the event with 65 points.

The top three skiers from each team scores in theevent.  Finishing in fist place in theevent was Dave Duede with a time of 32:02.1. Hjalmar Westie placed fourth (32:31.0) as teammate Matt Nielsen was nextin fifth place (32:54.2). 

Other NMU skiers who competed in the event, but did notscore were Joey Graci (32:57.7); Jon Filardo (33:17.0); Mike New (33:43.0); BenCline (33:48.5); and Adriaan Ostrander (33:59.6).

Duede led the â€Ã‚˜Cats on Sunday (Feb. 2) in the 15K Classicrace as he won the event (56:58.9) to lead the â€Ã‚˜Cats to the team title with 84points.  Tech was second with 72points.  Graci was second in the event(57:32.4) as Westie placed third (57:44.1).

Other NMU skiers included Filardo (58:54.9); Ostrander(58:55.1); Nielsen (59:32.7); New (1:00:57.7); and Cline (1:01:10.7).
