BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Saturday afternoon at FerrisState University the Bulldogs and Wildcats played a basketball game.  The score was tied four times in the gameand there were 10 lead changes.  But atthe sound of the final horn the Bulldogs escaped with a 74-63 win over thevisiting Wildcats.  NMU falls to 12-8overall on the season and 8-4 in the GLIAC. Ferris is now 8-12 and 4-8.

After the first 20 minutes of play the â€Ã‚˜Cats were down byeight points.  Even though the â€Ã‚˜Catsshot better than the Bulldogs at 45.5 percent to 41.4 percent.  The score was tied at 27 with 3:43 left inthe first half before Ferris would end the half by going on an eight point run.

The Bulldogs led the entire second half as the â€Ã‚˜Cats closethe margin to seven points with less than a minute left in the game.  FSU controlled the boards as they had the 39to 27 rebounding advantage on the afternoon. The Bulldogs had 19 second chance points as they had 18 offensiverebounds. 

For the afternoon the â€Ã‚˜Cats shot 46.9 percent from the floor(23-49) and 31.8 percent from the three-point line (31.8 percent). Ã‚  The â€Ã‚˜Cats went to the free throw line 14times and converted 10 of the free throws (71.4 percent) while the Bulldogsmade 30 trips to the line. Ã‚ 

Billy Hill led the â€Ã‚˜Cats with 17 points and sixrebounds.  Steve Watts had 13 pointswhile Milan Azanjac had 11 points.  AdamAnderson led the Bulldogs with 18 points.

The team will be back at the Berry Events Center nextSaturday (Feb. 8) against Saginaw Valley State University.
