
MARQUETTE, Mich. - The University of Alaska Fairbankshas yet to defeat the Northern Michigan University hockey team entering thegame on Saturday night. That recordstill stands as the two teams skated to a 2-2 deadlock at the Berry EventsCenter. NMU holds a 13-0-3 all-timerecord against the Nanooks. The â€Ã‚˜Catsare now 14-10-2 on the season and 10-7-1 in the CCHA. The Nanooks are now 9-12-5 and 6-11-5. â€Ã‚œIt is tough to play back-to-back games,â€Ã‚ Walt Kyle, head coachof NMU, said. â€Ã‚œWe were not taking themfor granted. I thought that defensively we played pretty well.â€Ã‚ÂÂ
Last night the â€Ã‚˜Cats scored eight goals.
The â€Ã‚˜Cats jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game.
The Nanooks would come back to make the score 2-1 with agoal by Ryan Campell at 5:23 of the second period.  Cory Rask would tie the game with a goal at 7:48 of the secondperiod.ÂÂÂÂ
In the extra period the Nanooks had three shots on goal tothe â€Ã‚˜Cats two. For the game NMU had theadvantage in shots with 28 to the Nanooks 21.
Craig Kowalski went the distance for the â€Ã‚˜Cats as he had 19saves. Neither team converted on thepower play in four chances each.
The â€Ã‚˜Cats hit the road next week to take on the Universityof Michigan in Ann Arbor (Feb. 7-8).
