LUTSEN MOUNTAIN, MINN. â€Ã‚“ Day one of the LutsenMountain giant slalom saw the Northern Michigan University alpine ski teamplace three skiers in the top six.  Theevent consists of the top elite skiers from the Midwest and Canada. 

Danielle Denbleyker led the â€Ã‚˜Cats with a second place finishin the event.  She skied the course in atime of 2:19.62.  Right behindDenbleyker in third place was teammate Kate Hosking with a total time of2:20.15.  Elizabeth Somalski finished insixth place with a time of 2:22.38.

Meri Koski finished in the 16th spot (2:23.84)for the â€Ã‚˜Cats.  Next was Jazz Centauroin 18th place (2:23.99), then Sarah Brown in 33rd place(2:30.96) and Lori Hellowell in 55th place (4:38.36).

The second day of competition will be on Friday (Jan. 24) inthe giant slalom.
