HOUGHTON, Mich. â€Ã‚“ The menâ€Ã‚™s cross country ski team atNorthern Michigan University was in second place after the first day ofcompetition at the Macalester Invitational being held on the Michigan Techâ€Ã‚™sSki Trails.  Saturdayâ€Ã‚™s event for themen was the 10K Freestyle event.  Theâ€Ã‚˜Cats have 68 points to the event leading Alaska Fairbanks teamâ€Ã‚™s 76 points.

Chris Cook led the â€Ã‚˜Cats with a second place showing in theevent (30:52.8) as teammate Jon Filardo was sixth (32:51.8) and Bryan Cook waseighth (33:00.7).

Other skiers who competed included:  Matt Nielsen (33:32.2), Hjalmar Westie(33:53.1), Mike New (33:55.1) and Dave Duede (34:13.4).

The event will continue on Sunday.
