HOUGHTON, Mich. â€Ã‚“ After the first day of competitionat the Macalester Invitational at the Michigan Tech Ski Trails, the NMU womenâ€Ã‚™scross country ski team leads the event with 93 points as Alaska Fairbanks issecond with 90 points.

The first dayâ€Ã‚™s event was the 5K Womenâ€Ã‚™s Freestyle as MariaStuber was second (18:35.0), Hilary Patzer was third (19:03.1) and Tami Kochenwas fourth (19:12.3).

Other skiers who competed for the â€Ã‚˜Cats included:  Katherine Huemmer (19:27.2), JordanSeethaler (19:33.4), Rachel Daw (19:35.0) and Shannon Dikkema (20:07.8).

The second day of the competition will be on Sunday.
